I'm Theo Solnik, an event photographer who has been shooting conferences, summits, and institutional events in Lisbon for over a decade. I work as a single, senior photographer — the person you brief is the person who shows up and shoots your event — with nearly thirty years behind the camera and a background in documentary cinematography that shapes how I see a room.

 

I've photographed some of the largest events Lisbon hosts. I was an official photographer during the State Visit of the Dutch Royal Family to Portugal, and I've covered Web Summit, the World Aviation Festival, EU PVSEC, and KAICIID's interreligious dialogue in the city, as well as executive meetings, pharmaceutical summits, and corporate galas for clients including Google, Pfizer, Cisco, and Huawei.
 

I also photographed a COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) event in Lisbon in 2017, where I photographed Carlos Moedas, then EU Commissioner for Research and Innovation, alongside Portuguese Minister Manuel Heitor, MEP Carlos Zorrinho, and Dr Ángeles Rodríguez-Peña, President of the COST Association.

Lisbon has been a working base for me for years, and I know its venues — the FIL congress halls in Parque das Nações, the Altice Arena, the Centro de Congressos in Junqueira, and the palaces and rooftops above the Tagus — and how each one behaves under a camera.

 

What I photograph

I cover corporate and institutional events end to end: keynotes and full auditoriums, panels, coffee-break conversations, networking with the river behind, brand activations, product launches, investor meetings, trade fairs at FIL, leadership summits, and inauguration ceremonies. I work discreetly and move quietly through an event, so the images feel observed rather than staged — the documentary habit of catching the real moment rather than interrupting it.
